IT ALL STARTED WHEN ASHWANI AND HIS WIFE SAROJ WENT OUT LOOKING FOR EAST INDIAN CUISINE RESTAURANT AND COULD NOT FIND ONE EASILY.
After coming on work permit to Winnipeg, Ashwani started working at an Indian Restaurant. After a couple of years, he brought his wife Saroj from India. One day while looking for a good East Indian cuisine restaurant, they realized there are only 2 restaurant in the city.
With the increasing East Indian population and the taste of east Indian food that Canadians loved, Ashwani and Saroj came up with the idea of opening a restaurant. The first restaurant that they opened was Bombay Restaurant in 1982. After running that restaurant successfully for a decade, they opened India Palace Restaurant in 1992. Since then India Palace has made to the news numerous times. With the authentic East Indian recipes and the perfect blend of Indian spices, India Palace has positioned itself as one of the most loved East Indian cuisines in Winnipeg and particularly in Winnipeg Downtown.
